Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 19, 2026
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how Gleam Eats LLC, a California limited liability company (“Gleam Eats”, “we”, “us”), collects, uses and discloses personal information in connection with gleameats.com, our applications and related services (the “Service”). It is a notice of our practices. It is not a contract and does not form part of our Terms of Service. Capitalised terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Service.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
(a) Account information: name, email address and, if you sign in through a third-party provider, the information that provider makes available to us.
(b) User Content: reviews, scores, ratings, dish names, tags, comments, notes, photos, places, reports, appeals, display names and handles, and other content you submit.
(c) Preferences and activity: taste settings, dietary preferences you choose to record, friends, blocks, group selections, communication preferences, and your interactions with the Service.
(d) Location: your device’s location, when you choose to share it.
(e) Device and usage information: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring pages, and similar technical information.
(f) Transaction information: if you purchase a subscription, your subscription status and history and records of the terms you accepted. Payment card details are collected by our payment processor, not by us.
(g) Communications: messages you send us and records of messages we send you.
We collect this information from you, from your device, and from third-party sign-in and payment providers you choose to use.
3. How We Use Information
We use personal information to provide, operate, maintain and improve the Service; to personalise scores and recommendations; to display User Content, including in promoting the Service; to moderate content and enforce our Terms of Service; to process payments and manage subscriptions; to communicate with you, including sending sign-in links, service messages (including subscription acknowledgments, renewal notices and yearly reminders) and, if you request them, news; to analyse use of the Service; to detect and address fraud, abuse, security incidents and technical problems; and to comply with law and protect our rights and the rights of others.
Content you submit may be reviewed by automated tools and by people before or after it is displayed.
4. Information Others Can See
Reviews and other public User Content are visible to the public with your display name. Other users with whom you connect, such as friends and members of a group you join, can see additional information as the Service shows them, such as your taste settings and dietary preferences you record.
5. How We Disclose Information
We disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:
(a) Service providers that process information on our behalf, including providers of hosting, data storage, email delivery, content moderation, payment processing, sign-in, notifications, analytics and error monitoring;
(b) Other users and the public, as described in Section 4;
(c) Third-party services you choose to use, such as a sign-in or payment provider, which handle your information under their own privacy policies;
(d) Parties to a business transaction, in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganisation, bankruptcy or sale of some or substantially the whole of our business or assets; and
(e) Legal and safety recipients, where we believe disclosure is required by law or legal process, or is appropriate to protect the rights, property or safety of Gleam Eats, our users or others.
We do not sell personal information to advertisers. We may update this practice as Section 14 describes.
6. Aggregated and De‑identified Information
We may create aggregated or de-identified information from personal information and User Content. We may use that information, and may sell, license and disclose information that is both aggregated and de-identified, including to restaurants and other businesses. We maintain and use de-identified information in de-identified form and do not attempt to re-identify it, except to test whether our de-identification processes are effective.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, to remember your settings and choices, and to operate features of the Service. We do not currently use advertising cookies.
8. Online Tracking
We do not track users across third-party websites over time. Because we do not engage in that tracking, browser “Do Not Track” signals do not change our practices. Third-party services that you use through the Service, such as sign-in and payment providers, may collect information about you under their own privacy policies.
9. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as we consider it useful for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, and longer where required or permitted by law, including to keep transaction records, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Retention periods differ by category of information.
When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your account information, except as described in this Section. Reviews and other public User Content may remain on the Service without your name unless you choose to delete them when you delete your account. We may retain information that we are required to keep by law, that relates to purchases, or that is needed for security, fraud prevention or the enforcement of our Terms of Service, and residual copies may remain in backups for a period.
10. Your Choices
You may review and update much of your information in your account settings. You may delete your account in your account settings, or request deletion without signing in at gleameats.com/delete-account. You may opt out of news emails through the link in those emails or in your account settings; we may continue to send service messages. You may disable location sharing and notifications through your device or browser settings. To request access to or correction of other personal information, contact us at the address below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we respond as applicable law requires.
11. Security
We use administrative and technical measures, and rely on measures of our service providers, intended to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information.
12. Age
The Service is intended for people 18 and older. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we may delete it.
13. Location of Processing
We are based in the United States. We and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries.
14. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the updated policy on the Service with a new effective date. If we consider a change material, we will also provide notice by email or through the Service.
